Terms
What you get, and what we ask.
Short, and in the same words we use everywhere else. If a sentence here disagrees with what the app tells you it is doing, the app is right and this page is the thing to fix.
Who you are buying from
YapScribe is made and sold by Vigilainte Inc., of 8 The Green, Ste D, Dover, DE 19901, USA — "we" and "us" below. Buying a licence, or using the app, means you accept what is on this page.
What a licence is
A licence to install and use YapScribe on Macs you own or control: two Macs on a Standard licence, three on a Power one. You may use it for your own work, at a job or on your own account.
It is one payment. There is no subscription, and no part of the app stops working because a month went by.
What it does not cover: reselling it, sharing your account so other people can activate their own machines, or removing the licensing so it runs without one.
Which Macs a licence covers is yours to change: your account lists them and can release one so another machine takes its place. There is a limit of four releases per licence in any thirty days, which exists to stop one licence being rotated around an office; if you reach it, the page names the day it resets.
The price, and how it moves
YapScribe sells on a ladder: a price holds until a set number of licences have actually been bought and paid for, then the next price starts. There are no countdown timers on this site and no rung is ever marked sold out because we felt like it — a rung ends when the orders say it has, and the system has no way to claim otherwise.
Payment is taken by Stripe. Tax is worked out by Stripe at checkout and shown before you pay. If a rung sells out between you opening the pricing page and pressing buy, checkout tells you before it charges anything.
The trial
Seven days with everything switched on. The download needs no account and no card; the trial begins when you sign in inside the app, and there is one trial per account. Buying before you try does not use it up.
Updates
A licence includes one year of updates from the day you buy. When that year ends, the app you have carries on working, for as long as it runs on your Mac. Builds released after your year need an optional $19 update pass, which buys another year.
We do not promise any particular feature on any particular date. What we promise is that nothing you have already paid for is taken away.
Refunds
Fourteen days from purchase, for any reason, no questions. The details — including what happens to your licence, your Macs and any cloud credits — are on the refunds page, which is part of these terms.
Cloud credits
Credits are optional and separate from the licence: $10 for 100,000 words of cloud polishing. Buying a pack does not start a subscription and there is no monthly plan to decline.
Credits are for polishing your own dictation. Using the cloud endpoint as a general-purpose proxy for other traffic is not what it is for, and the service applies rate limits and size caps to keep it usable for everybody.
Your own API keys are yours
If you point polishing at a provider with your own key, that key stays in your Mac's Keychain and never reaches us. What you send goes to that provider under their terms, you are the one paying them, and their bill is between you and them.
Using it fairly
Do not use YapScribe to break the law, and do not use it to transcribe people who have not agreed to be recorded where the law where you are says they must agree. Do not try to get round the licensing or the usage limits. If an account is being used to defraud us — a chargeback after a month of use, a licence rotated around an office — we may suspend it.
What we do not promise
YapScribe is software, and speech recognition is a best guess about what you said. It will get things wrong. Read what it wrote before you send it. We do not promise it is accurate, that it will never be unavailable, or that it will suit a particular purpose you have in mind.
Except where the law does not allow us to limit it, our responsibility to you is limited to what you paid us. Nothing here takes away rights you have as a consumer where you live, including the refund rights the law gives you, which stand alongside the fourteen days we offer voluntarily.
Ending it
You can stop using YapScribe whenever you like; delete the app and, if you want, ask us to delete your account. We can end a licence if it is being used against the section above, and we will say why.
Changes
If these terms change, the effective date below moves and the change applies to purchases made after it. A change cannot take away something a licence you have already bought included.
Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the law of the State of Delaware, USA, and disputes about them are heard by the courts of Delaware. Before anything formal, write to support@yapscribe.com — almost everything is a misunderstanding that one email fixes.
