Refunds
Fourteen days, for any reason.
No questions and no form to fill in. This page says what happens afterwards — including the one part that is bounded rather than instant.
The window
Fourteen days from the day you paid, for any reason. You do not have to explain yourself, and nothing about how much you used it changes the answer.
The seven-day trial exists so that you can answer the question before paying rather than after. The refund is there for when the trial did not tell you what you needed to know.
How to ask
Email support@yapscribe.com from the address your account is registered to, and say which purchase. That is the whole procedure.
Your account's billing page has the same address on it, next to the Stripe billing portal where your receipts are. There is no button there that issues a refund by itself: a refund reverses a licence, the Macs on it and any credits, and that is a conversation rather than a click. The email is answered by a person and the whole procedure is the sentence above.
What happens to the money
It goes back to the card or wallet you paid with, through Stripe. The refund is issued at Stripe first and only then reversed on our side, so the ending where your licence is taken away and the money has not come back cannot happen.
Stripe decides how long it takes to appear on your statement; it is usually a few working days.
What happens to your licence
The licence is revoked and the Macs activated against it stop being licensed. The place it held on the pricing ladder goes back — the ladder counts orders that were actually paid for, and a refunded one is not one of them.
You keep your trial eligibility. A refund never uses up a trial you have not had.
The timing, honestly
Two different clocks, and neither of them is instant:
- Cloud words stop within about five minutes. Anything metered — polishing on YapScribe credits — stops being spendable almost at once.
- An app that is offline can keep running for up to fourteen days. Your Mac holds a signed licence token that is valid for a fortnight and we keep no blocklist, so a machine that never asks us anything cannot be told. It stops at its next check-in, or when the token expires — whichever comes first.
That fourteen days is not a coincidence: it is the app's offline grace period, and the refund window was chosen to match it, so that the longest a refunded copy can keep working is the length of the window itself.
Upgrades and update passes
Refunding an upgrade from Standard to Power puts the licence back to Standard. It does not revoke the Standard licence you bought separately and have not asked to give up.
Refunding an update pass takes that year back off your updates window. The build you already have keeps working, as it always does.
Cloud credits
A credit pack can be refunded within the same fourteen days, and refunding it takes the whole pack — all 100,000 words — back off your balance.
So in practice this is a refund for a pack you have not used. Words you have already spent have been spent: they cost us money at a model provider on the day you used them, and they are not refundable. If you have used part of a pack and want out, email us and say so — it is a conversation, not a form.
Please ask before you dispute
A chargeback raised without asking us first suspends the account's cloud access, and turning it back on is a decision somebody has to make by hand rather than something that happens automatically. One email gets you the same money back with none of that.
Your data afterwards
There is nothing you dictated for us to delete, because none of it was ever stored — see the privacy page.
A refund does not delete your account, but you can ask us to: write to support@yapscribe.com from the address it is registered to. We keep what was bought — each order you paid for (the refunded one included), your licence and the record of your cloud-word credits, bought and spent — even after an account is deleted, because accounting and tax rules require it, with your email address taken off the account they are kept under. Deleted with the account: your sign-in, your Macs, your trial, the record of the emails we sent you and your cloud usage totals. What is kept, and for how long.
